Led by electric harp player, Maria-Christina Harper, Harper Trio are proud to present their new album ‘Passing By’ to celebrate the 40th broadcast of the Maximum Reinhardt Show on Morley Radio.
This “deep, contemplative debut” (Mojo) has been picked up by Gilles Peterson, BBC 6 Music and Jazz FM and is a bold, unconventional debut. ‘Passing By’ is out
now. Their music flirts with the avant-garde and the psychedelic to create a spiritual jazz for the 21st century. Joining Maria Maria-Christina are Evan Jenkins on drums (Neil Cowley Trio) and saxophonist Josephine Davies (Instrumentalist of the Year, 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Awards). Greek-born, with Egyptian roots, Maria-Christina is reinventing the sound of the harp in jazz, with a timely fusion of free jazz and her traditional roots in a sublime East meets West blend.
