Songwriters and Wordsmiths
Episode 8: Out of The Woods
Host: Tracey Hammett
Tracey Hammett has been curating a night at the Hootananny in Brixton for the last thirteen years, it’s called Songwriters and Wordsmiths, it happens once every three months on a Tuesday evening and it showcases brilliant emerging songwriters and musicians.
This radio show is all about introducing you to some of the talented artists she works with. It celebrates them, by playing their recorded music and through hosting their live performances. There’s chat about songwriting and creativity too. It’s essential listening for anyone who is interested in lyrics, music, songwriting and outstanding live performances from brilliant emerging artists.
During this time of long nights, hibernation, festivities and new year’s resolutions, accompany us as we take a winter’s journey from introspection to celebration with the help of a bunch of brilliant poets and musicians – we’ll mix in some guilty pleasures, add some sequins and a sprinkle of disco. Expect Robert Frost, Aldous Harding, Langston Hughes, Keston Cobblers Club, Jean Binta Breeze, Vanity Fairy, the ribcage wobbling bass-baritone of Paul Robeson and much much more.
