Songwriters and Wordsmiths

Show 15: Birthdays, Banjos and Boas

Host: Tracey Hammett

Tracey Hammett has been curating a night at the Hootananny in Brixton for the last thirteen years, it’s called Songwriters and Wordsmiths, it happens once every three months on a Tuesday evening and it showcases brilliant emerging songwriters and musicians.

This radio show is all about introducing you to some of the talented artists she works with. It celebrates them, by playing their recorded music and through hosting their live performances. There’s chat about songwriting and creativity too. It’s essential listening for anyone who is interested in lyrics, music, songwriting and outstanding live performances from brilliant emerging artists.

Episode 12 celebrates some of the many ways we express being human through the art of song: the secrets we keep; the rumours and myths we hear, spread and are part of; our meandering journeys through life; our pure thankfulness for those we love; melancholy moments; rebellious acts and barefaced, sassy self acceptance. Feather boas are optional!
