Show 10: Golden Girl

Host: Tracey Hammett

Guest: Ruby Dew

Tracey Hammett has been curating a night at the Hootananny in Brixton for the last thirteen years, it’s called Songwriters and Wordsmiths, it happens once every three months on a Tuesday evening and it showcases brilliant emerging songwriters and musicians.

This radio show is all about introducing you to some of the talented artists she works with. It celebrates them, by playing their recorded music and through hosting their live performances. There’s chat about songwriting and creativity too. It’s essential listening for anyone who is interested in lyrics, music, songwriting and outstanding live performances from brilliant emerging artists.

This month we have our very own Golden Girl in the studio! Join us for an intimate look at the creative world of talented young singer-songwriter, composer and collaborator, Ruby Dew. Find out who inspired her and where her ideas come from and learn about her journey so far, including her links with the Buddy Holly Foundation and her songwriting collaborations with Max Runham, Rachel Chinouriri, Aaron Paul O’Brien and Rhys Lewis. Best of all – Ruby plays two live tracks in the studio for us and fills the space with her rich, understated, classic tones and her honest lyrics that grapple with contemporary issues. There’s been a lot of rain so far this year. In a challenging world, her songs can help you rebuild.
