The story of Mary Seacole, a Black heroine of the Crimean War and British nursing profession and Britain’s best known Black hero. A single parent black woman, whose bravery, courage and warmth, during a major 19th Century conflict, made her the darling of the British Army; a longstanding and positive symbol of the British Nursing profession; and one of the best-known black heroes in Black British history.
