Pink and Blue
LGBT+ History Month Special
Host: Caryle Webb-Ingall
Guest: Craig Hanlon-Smith & Kuldip Sahota
Sexuality isn’t the obvious focus of the English Heritage blue plaque scheme but look behind the names and there are fascinating and unknown stories. But that’s not the only way LGBT+ life is marked in London. In conversation with Kuldip we’ll look at plaques, monuments and statues which add to the recognition and understanding of our culture stretching back through the centuries.
Join Caryle’s course: Lesbian Landmarks in London
The report that Queen Victoria denied the existence of Lesbianism may or may not be true. Love and sex between women in London has however often been downplayed or invisible and at times out and proud. In this on line course we will be looking at the lives of lesbians in London finding out who they were, where they lived and played and mapping their experiences in an historical context.
