In this podcast, Dr Florence Marfo talks to Kim Mcintosh, the latest addition to the Morley Prize panel of judges (non-fiction category). They discuss her collection of essays black girl no magic: reflections on race and respectability. Although she is a Millennial, interestingly, Kim’s book is more popular amongst Gen Zs than Kim’s own age group.
In addition to being a writer, Kim has been a labour party councillor for the London Borough of Southwark since 2022. When they meet, Florence and Kim discuss Kim’s education and writing background.
