Morley Opera Podcast
Episode 1: Joanne Whalley & Mahtab Ghamsari (Morley Opera Students)
Welcome to the Opera Podcast. In this podcast Michalis Angelakis, Head of Opera and Vocal Studies at Morley College London – Waterloo, speaks to some of the students of the Morley Opera School about their experience of the course as well as discussing some of their performances.
The Morley Opera School is an intensive course for advanced singers wishing to develop skills related to the performance of the operatic repertoire. At the end of the term, they present a public show of fully staged opera scenes, which the students prepare together with a team of stage director, conductor, vocal & language coaches, which is an exciting and challenging experience for the students, and a way to ease them into the professional opera world.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions, the Opera School has focused on a variety of projects, including recordings of professional quality in collaboration with our Recording Studio engineers, as well as the creation of this Opera Podcast for Morley Radio, which includes a live performance of opera scenes on 10 December 2020.
The students who participated in the performance are (in order of appearance):
Owain Evans, Sebastian Moppel, Jessica Wise, Jenny Hunt, Eleanor Harvie, Mahtab Ghamsari, Ruth Mackie, Joanne Whalley, Rachel Goreing & Rosie Hilal.
Stage direction: Ashley Dean
Musical direction: Michalis Angelakis
