Series 3 Episode 2: Rich Miller
For this episode, Gallery and Exhibitions Officer Melissa Baksh caught up with potter, President of London Potters and Judge of Channel 4’s ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’ Rich Miller. Rich studied ceramics at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, graduating in 2003. Until recently, he ran Froyle Tiles, a handmade tile company based in Surrey specialising in the bespoke production of high fired stoneware tiles. Rich’s passion for clay is palpable in his studio practice, which draws on themes of British colonialism and the UK’s mix of eclectic cultural styles. In the episode, the pair discuss the power and potential of clay, their shared Guyanese heritage and exhibitions and artists that have been inspiring them of late.
