LBGTQIA+ History Month 2022

Episode 4: Kuldip Sahota

In celebration of LGBTQIA+ History Month 2022 Emmanuel Vass, Subject Leader for Music & the Creative Arts at Morley’s North Kensington Centre speaks to members of Morley’s staff about their experiences as LGBTQIA+ individuals. Coming from all walks of life, and exploring the wide spectrum of experiences, rites of passages, and challenges that often come with growing up as an LGBTQIA+ person, join us to listen to the illuminating, personal, and lively stories of our guests.

Growing up in the 1970s as an East Londoner with Indian roots, with a huge extended family around him, Kuldip shares his experiences coming out in the mid-90s, and what it was like going to LGBT+ London nights, including those more geared towards the Asian gay community. Kuldip is an Administrator in the Humanities and Applied Sciences at Morley, and during this interview, talks candidly about internalised homophobia, his experiences with some aspects of toxic gay culture, and healing his gay shame.
