In The Company Of
Episode 15: Philippe Close
A podcast that takes a peek inside Morley College, its inhabitants and wonders who are the people that make up this world. Host Lana Citron will be chatting to different members from the Morley community; a tutor, student or member of the staff – wondering what makes them tick, what inspires them, their aspirations and hopes and how they found themselves within the world of Morley.
In this episode Lana speaks to Philippe Close. Philippe is a conceptual artist and painter, and the newly appointed Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the Chelsea Centre for the Creative Industries and is responsible for leading our Fine Art Higher Education Program. He also teaches across other creative subjects, including 3D Computer Modelling skills on the Level 3 Games Design course.
Philippe has been a passionate promoter and pursuer of Lifelong Learning, for more than twenty years has also been a student at Morley College and sees much of what he does as the lifelong project of a ‘constantly failing polymath’.
Before joining Morley in 2018 as a lecturer Philippe had a varied teaching career and worked for many years as an Art teacher in HMP Brixton and as an Advanced Practitioner/Teaching Coach in Prisons across London. He has taught Non-Violent Communication Skills at festivals and is a Yoga and Meditation teacher.
Philippe is interested in developing ‘creative curiosity’ and multi-disciplinary approaches to creative practices with his students as well as developing both the concrete traditional and modern skills that underpin contemporary Fine Art making.”
