Generous Faith
Series 3 Episode 4 – Music, Faith and Spirituality
Guest: Rev Tati
Generous Faith is a series hosted by Reverend Georgia Ashwell, a podcast that celebrates the curious and the questioning. In these challenging times we’re thinking about how to live a good life – a life which embraces questions and explores a generous way to understand faith, life and the world. Join Georgia and featured guests each month to seek those spaces found between the binaries, spaces where beauty and mystery often dwell. This podcast is produced by St John’s Waterloo in collaboration with Morley Radio.
In this episode, Georgia talks with guest, Rev Dr Tati Gutteridge about her debut album Yolk. Tati is a songwriter and lead singer of the band Mother Church and shares with us the place that prayer has in the songwriting process, the role that music has as a way of connection to God, and most of all – her favorite topic – sin! Perhaps not a common theme for an album, but Tati beautifully weaves this theme through her lyrics and music, and it is the driving force behind much of her inspiration. Is sin a helpful term to use today? Maybe we need to do more to celebrate sin! Listen now and hear not only the conversation but clips from the music of Mother Church.
