Generous Faith

Series 2 Episode 4 – Palestine: The Fear of Oppression and The Power of Freedom

Guests: Dr Sharon Jagger, Esther McIntosh & Samuel Salim Munayer

Generous Faith is a series hosted by Reverend Georgia Ashwell, a podcast that celebrates the curious and the questioning. In these challenging times we’re thinking about how to live a good life – a life which embraces questions and explores a generous way to understand faith, life and the world. Join Georgia and featured guests each month to seek those spaces found between the binaries, spaces where beauty and mystery often dwell. This podcast is produced by St John’s Waterloo in collaboration with Morley Radio.

Our freedom can so easily be taken for granted, and perhaps rightly so – it is a human right. But what is it to have your freedom taken away? To live in the shadow of oppression. In this double episode I talk to Sharon and Esther, two Christian women from the UK on their recent visit to Palestine and all they witnessed for Christians and all Palestinians living there. Also joining us is Samuel, a Palestinian man who they met as part of their visit.

What is the history of this land and people? What is the Palestinian Christian experience? And is the Christian influence both good and bad from the UK, US and other places? How much has White-Christian Supremacy caused harm to Palestinians? If it doesn’t aid freedom, can we all it Christian?
