Far and Wide with Rowan Flack

Episode 7: Swimming

A new music podcast series exploring music from the past and present with a focus on jazz +  alt-folk.

Rowan is a vocalist, composer and bandleader from South London. As a jazz graduate of both Trinity Laban Conservatoire (Greenwich)  and The Edvard Grieg Academy (Bergen, Norway) and a former student of The Brit School; her music style weaves between the genres of jazz, pop/soul and alt-folk.

Inspired by a broad range of singers and instrumentalists; she listens to Astrud Gilberto, Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, Norah Jones, and Gretchen Parlato although early influences also include more downtempo dance and indie-folk bands such as Bonobo, Zero-7, Fleet Foxes, and Villagers. Her current influences are heart-warming, soulful tracks from contemporaries such as Kokoroko, Eloise and Cleo Sol.

This music podcast is a place to re-discover old jazz and folk records, share exciting contemporary crossover songs of the present and to search for unfamiliar, obscure tracks, far and wide.
