Windrush has become a sweeping terms for immigrants from the West Indies who came to the UK in the 40s and 50s. But the real Windrush generation are specifically connected to the ship which bore that name. What are the stories of the men and women who landed at Tilbury and why were some of them initially housed in a World War II bomb shelter beneath Clapham Common?
