Hats On!
Episode 1 – Josephine Baker
Welcome to Hats On! The podcast where we kindly request you leave your hat on… so we can admire it of course!
Here at Morley College we have a thriving millinery department. Our students study influences on hat design past and present, including trends in fashion, art, culture and social movements; plot out their future careers; and produce beautiful hats. This podcast will see us looking at exceptional people who have had a lasting influence on hats, clothes and many other areas of life. We call these people Style Icons.
In today’s episode, Kate, Helen, Roberta and Molly are discussing icon of 1920s Paris: Josephine Baker. From her humble beginnings in 1906 Missouri to her final resting place at the Pantheon in Paris, we take a dive into her fascinating life and all the looks she wore along the way.
