Episode 20: Fiona Murray
A podcast that takes a peek inside Morley College, its inhabitants and wonders who are the people that make up this world. Host Lana Citron will be chatting to different members from the Morley community; a tutor, student or member of the staff – wondering what makes them tick, what inspires them, their aspirations and hopes and how they found themselves within the world of Morley.
In this episode Lana speaks to Dr. Fiona Murray, Head of Health, Education and Science at the Morley College London, North Kensington Centre.
Born and raised in Aberdeen, Fiona completed a BSc in Pharmacology, followed by a PhD in Physiology with Biomedical Science which was funded by the British Heart Foundation. A love of Science and appreciation for the power of education led her to the world of FE and inspired her to complete her Teaching Qualification in Further Education.
Fiona taught biology and chemistry in Scotland for several years, before relocating to New York for 5 years where she was bioscience lead for a midtown Manhattan health science school. Upon return to the UK, she found herself at Morley where she has been for 7 years now, initially at the Waterloo Centre and now at the North Kensington Centre. In her spare time Fiona can be found taking dance class (or taking her daughter to her dance class!). She is a fully qualified dance teacher in a range of styles having taught all ages from 18 months up to adult.
