Roll With It
Episode 4: Here Come the Year 9’s
Roll With It is a student-led platform for young people at Oasis Academy Southbank, in South London. By giving sixth formers the space to discuss a range of topics pertinent to their own lives, the podcast helps to amplify their voices and experiences. In this month’s episode, students discuss parental love, the death penalty and advice they’d give to their younger selves.
With the Sixth Formers focused on their A-levels it was up to the Year 9’s to step up to the plate and boy did they! Leah, Oshoke, Jada, Indigo and Nazzerah try to figure out the meaning of life, while sharing their experiences with colourism. The group also interview special guest and senior member of staff at OASB Conor Boyle on his experiences of growing up in Guernsey, becoming a teacher and his opinion on the best musical performer (hint: it’s Kylie Minogue). The group also discuss their thoughts on parenting and use of makeup amongst the youth while providing nail tips (shout out to Kevin).
