Charlotte’s Co[v]ping Resources:
Co[v]ping Song: Lovely Day – Bill Withers
Instagram Live Stream yoga – @demariayogadance – a very gentle, holistic class livestreamed from Ibiza. It was every day through the Spanish lockdown – now three times a week.
Netflix series –Unorthodox, the series on one woman breaking free from the Hasidim community in Williamsburg, New York City: always fascinating to see inside religious minorities and how they live
TV series – Normal People on BBC – for once a series on TV that is every bit as good as the book by Sally Rooney
Newspaper – The Guardian – online, on paper (at the weekends) – always the most reliable and provocative read and a great source of materials for classroom lessons as it never demonises newcomers to London but rather shows some of the struggles
Book – Hilary Mantel’s The Mirror and the Light – a punishingly long read of nearly 900 pages about Henry V111’s chief counsellor, Thomas Cromwell. The book ends with his head on the block and I felt mine right there beside him. An exhaustive and exhausting read full of the sounds, smells, textures and intrigue of Tudor London, complete with plague, political posturing and Get-Rich-Quick shenanigans.
My ‘children’ – so glad they are challenging young adults of 20 and 22, excellent companions in every way. So thankful that they aren’t school age and I don’t have to pretend to be teaching them!
My bike – one of life’s essentials
